Irish Rugby Union Players Association

HRM is proud of its relationship with IRUPA, the Irish Rugby Union Players Association. As a sponsor and Business Partner of IRUPA, we share values of working with outstanding talent and energetic leaders.

Founded in October 2001 by players around the country, IRUPA is the official Players' Union for professional rugby players irrespective of nationality in Ireland. IRUPA established and runs the Injured Players Fund which reflects the players commitment towards supporting those players who have had to depart from rugby or may have to in the near future due to injury or illness.

The fund provides support to players who have suffered serious career ending injuries or illnesses to adjust to a world beyond the playing of the game. At a time when there are significant risks both physical and financial at stake, IRUPA provides a broad representation of the players interests and works to promote and protect the welfare of its members by endeavouring to safeguard their futures both on and off the pitch.

In addition IRUPA supports players through the provision of services in Insurance, Legal, Financial and crucially through in the area of Education and Career Training. Rugby is a short career and while some high profile players will earn substantially during this period, many others and their families make significant financial sacrifices to keep playing.
